Family photography is one of my favorite forms of photography. I love capturing the moments between the ones you love, and I aim to deliver results that you’ll cherish for years. To help ensure the session goes off without a hitch, I encourage you to check out the tips and tricks below.
The following advice will help to make sure your family photography shoot runs well:
- Plan Ahead: If you have particular dates or seasons in mind for your picture session (such as holidays or birthdays), make sure to schedule it well in advance to ensure a convenient time frame.
- Outfit Coordination: Opt for outfit coordination over outfit matching. Select a theme or color palette that goes well together without becoming overly monotonous. Steer clear of complex patterns or huge logos that could obscure faces.
- Choose the Right Time: Arrange your session for when your kids are generally content and well-rested. Younger children tend to function best in the morning, when they are awake and energized.
- Location Is Important: Pick a site that has significance or is aesthetically pleasing. The right backdrop can improve your photos, whether it’s from your own house, your favorite park, or the beach.
- Talk About Expectations: Share your ideas, worries, positions, or shots you have in mind with me ahead of time. That way, I can work to make sure you get exactly what you’re expecting.
- Unwind and Enjoy Yourself: Part of what I love so much about family photography are the organic conversations and sincere grins that exist during the session. I’ve found that the best pictures usually come from a calm and joyful environment.
